The Bay of Fundy is one of Canada’s most beautiful stretches of coastline, nestled in between the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and is famed for having the highest tides on planet Earth. In recent areas the bay has gained worldwide attention as the last stronghold of the North Atlantic right whale – there are thought to be less than 500 remaining – and is the perfect place for whale watching. The bay is one of the North Atlantic’s hotspots for marine bio-diversity and it is one of the east coast’s natural highlights.
When to Go
You can visit the Bay of Fundy at any time of year but we particularly enjoy the wildlife and the natural beauty in the summer and autumn. Winter can be cold and although the area can be beautiful, there isn’t much to see – particularly from a wildlife point of view. If you are particularly interested in seeing the bay's cetaceans we highly recommend you visit towards the end of summer and in to September.
